Juvederm® At The Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center
Not all wrinkles are created equal. That’s why the creators of Botox® developed different types of facial fillers that fall under the umbrella name Juvederm®. Here at Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center, we carry Juvederm® Ultra XC, Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC, and Juvederm® Voluma XC, injectable hyaluronic acid dermal fillers used to smooth away facial folds and restore skin’s youthful volume. A more youthful profile starts with the apples in your cheeks!

What is Juvederm®?
Juvederm® Ultra XC, Juvederm® Voluma XC, and Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC are smooth consistency gels that are easily injected into facial wrinkles and folds. Specifically Juvederm® Ultra XC and Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC are used to instantly smooth out moderate to severe lines along the sides of your nose and mouth, whereas Juvederm® Voluma XC is used to correct age-related volume loss in the cheek area for people over 21.
Formulated for safety and minimal discomfort
Juvederm® products are made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA) that is manufactured using proprietary HYLACROSS™ technology. The formula also contains lidocaine for improved comfort during treatment.
Some dermal fillers have a granular consistency. The Juvederm fillers are formulated with Allergan’s proprietary VYCROSS™ technology, an advanced manufacturing process that results in a smooth gel that flows easily and consistently.
How Does it Work?
By replenishing your supply of Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
HA is a naturally occurring, hydrating sugar found in your skin. As you age, you start to lose HA, which causes the skin to lose structure and volume. HA works by holding in water at the injection site and acting as a cushioning agent. This adds temporary volume and a smoother appearance to skin.
Filler is injected within the dermal layers of the face
The body’s skin is made up of 3 primary layers. Juvederm products add volume back to these by filling up the collapsing dermal layers like putting the jelly in the jelly donut.
What to Expect?
A quick visit to the office
You’ll need to allow time to consult with your doctor prior to treatment to determine what works best for you. But the actual injection process can be performed during a brief (10 minute) office visit. Quick and easy, there is no downtime needed for this non-surgical treatment.
Minimized discomfort and side effects
Injections may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC is formulated with lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment experience. Your medical professional may also choose to numb the treatment area to further minimize discomfort. After the injection the treatment sight may feel tender or itchy and show signs of redness. However, these side effects are minimal and should last no longer than 24 hours. Most patients resume behavior as normal upon walking out of the office.
With optimal treatment Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus XC can maintain results for up to 1 year; Juvederm Voluma XC can last up to two years with optimal treatment. Touch-up injections, as well as repeat injections use smaller amounts of the formula (about half the amount is needed).
